Today, Will and Ashley Carlton and their family own and operate the EarthBox Garden Center. As a veteran-owned local business, we’re proud to carry on a tradition of sharing growing knowledge and helping home gardeners succeed.
We offer genuine EarthBox products, seasonal plants, and gardening supplies, along with personal service and practical instruction. Whether you’re choosing your first system or bringing us a question about an established garden, we’ll help you work out your next step.
Where the story began
A farmer’s idea.
A legacy that keeps growing.
The EarthBox Gardening System began with the dream of Manatee County tomato farmer Blake Whisenant. After eight years of research and hands-on experimentation, he developed a container gardening system that brought his commercial growing knowledge to home gardeners.
Blake wanted more people to experience growing their own food. He shared his knowledge through the EarthBox Garden Center and its free gardening classes.
Although Blake passed away in February 2018, his commitment to education, innovation, and successful home gardening continues through the garden center today.
