Yes. Choose plants with similar light, water, and feeding needs, and leave enough space for their mature size. Avoid combinations where a larger plant shades out a smaller one. Ask us for help planning a combination.

Medium and large trees are not recommended. Consider the plant’s mature height, root space, and stability in wind. Visit the garden center for advice on longer-lived plants and suitable varieties.

Choose a location with the sunlight your crop needs and easy access to water. Avoid roof runoff and keep the overflow opening clear. A screened porch can work if it receives enough light. Consider support for tall plants and protection from animals.

Use a lightweight, well-draining potting mix suited to the EarthBox system. Heavy garden soil and topsoil are not suitable substitutes. Follow your system’s instructions, or ask us to help choose the right mix.

The cover helps conserve moisture, reduce weeds, and protect the fertilizer from rain. Keep it in place during the growing season. It does not make plants immune to pests or disease.

Yes. Follow the seed packet’s planting depth and spacing, along with your EarthBox instructions. Starter plants are another option. The planting schedule marks crops suggested for starting from seed with an asterisk (*).

Yes. Choose growing supplies appropriate for organic gardening and follow the product labels and your EarthBox setup instructions. Contact the garden center for help selecting supplies.

The Original holds approximately 3 gallons, Root & Veg holds 2 gallons, and Junior holds 1 gallon. Reservoir capacity is not a watering schedule—plant size, weather, and crop type affect how quickly water is used.

Check the reservoir regularly and refill through the fill tube until water runs from the overflow opening. Young plants may need water every few days; mature plants need it at least daily and may need more frequent refills in hot weather. Do not wait for the reservoir to dry out.

Dolomite supplies calcium and magnesium and helps adjust the growing mix’s pH. Use the amount specified for your EarthBox system and crop. Ask us about crop-specific preparation, especially for blueberries and strawberries.

Feeding needs vary by crop. Follow the fertilizer type, amount, and placement recommended for your system and plants. Our garden center can help you choose supplies for vegetables, herbs, flowers, or fruiting plants.

Not every garden needs a treatment. Check plants regularly and identify the problem before choosing a product. Bring photos or a description to the garden center for help. If using any treatment, follow its label for the crop and intended use.

Not necessarily. Check the mix’s condition and how the last crop performed. When replanting, remove old roots and spent fertilizer and refresh the mix as your system’s instructions direct. If the mix is badly deteriorated or disease is suspected, ask us whether a full replacement is best.

Yes. Remove the remaining fertilizer from the previous planting, then add fresh fertilizer in the amount and placement specified for your system. Our Original EarthBox Replant Kit is available in the online store.

Follow the replanting instructions for your system and crop. Standard vegetable replanting calls for fresh dolomite, but preparation can differ for crops such as blueberries and strawberries. Check with us before preparing a specialty planting.
